Free Top 270+ Social Bookmarking Sites List With High DA (Checked October 2026)

Most bookmarking lists online run long, and nobody has checked them in years. You open one, pick ten sites, and half of them throw an error or ask you to join a service that shut down years ago.

This list tries to fix that. We pulled 500 names from three of the most cited sources, cut the duplicates, and sorted them by domain authority. Then we opened every single one in October 2026. Almost half failed. What’s left is 272 social bookmarking sites that load, take links, and still get posts. We also added the part other lists skip: which sites are worth your time, which ones are not, and how to post without looking like a spammer.

What Is Social Bookmarking?

Think of the bookmarks bar in your browser. Now picture it living online, where other people can see it, search it, and vote on it. That is social bookmarking in one line.

The idea took off in 2003, when Delicious let people save links with tags instead of folders. Digg and StumbleUpon came next. For a few years, one spot on the Digg front page could send a small blog more visitors in a day than Google sent in a month. People called it the Digg effect.

Those days are gone, and most of the old names went with them. Delicious went read-only. StumbleUpon closed in 2018, and Digg has died and come back more times than a movie villain.

What stayed is the habit. People still save, tag, and share links. They just do it on bookmarking social sites like Reddit, Pinterest, Flipboard, Diigo, and Pearltrees now, plus a long tail of smaller sites built mostly for SEO.

How Is It Different From Social Media?

They look alike, but the goal is different. On social media, you post to talk to your followers. On a bookmarking site, you save a link so that you and strangers who like the same things can find it later.

The link is the point. The chat is a bonus. That’s also why a social media bookmarking site’s list looks so different from a list of social networks.

What Bookmarking Does for SEO in 2026

Here is the honest version, because most posts oversell this part. Bookmarking helps in a couple of real ways, and it is weaker than people think in one big way.

It Helps Google Find New Pages Faster

Search bots visit busy sites often. When your new URL shows up on one, a bot may follow it sooner than it would find the page on its own. For a fresh blog post with no links yet, that can mean getting indexed in days instead of weeks.

That is useful. Just don’t mix up “found” with “ranked.” Google finding your page is step one of a long walk.

If a page still won’t show up in Google after a week or two, the problem is usually on your own site, not out there. Run the URL through our free noindex checker before you blame anyone else. A stray noindex tag is one of the most common reasons a page never appears at all.

Link Value Is Smaller Than the Lists Claim

A dofollow link can pass ranking value to your page. A nofollow link tells Google not to count it. Reddit, Pinterest, Flipboard and most other big platforms tag user links as nofollow or “ugc.” So when a list promises you high DA dofollow backlinks from Pinterest, that list is simply wrong.

Many of the smaller sites below do give dofollow links. The catch? A lot of them get almost no human visitors. Google can tell a link from a living community apart from a link on a page that exists only so marketers can drop URLs on it. It mostly ignores the second kind.

Traffic and Reach Are the Real Prize

One good Reddit thread can send hundreds of people who actually read your page. A pin that ranks in Pinterest search can keep sending visitors for years. That kind of traffic converts better than most link building ever will, and it doesn’t care about rel tags at all.

There is a newer angle too. AI tools like ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews lean on places where real people talk things through, and Reddit sits near the top of that pile. A genuinely helpful post there can put your brand in front of an answer engine, not just a search engine. We explain how that shift works in our guide to GEO vs SEO vs AEO, and it is a big part of what our AI SEO services cover.

Where It Fits in Your Link Plan

Bookmarking is a supporting act, not the headliner. It works best next to the other easy, ground-level tactics, like profile creation, directory and business listing sites and image sharing.

None of these will carry a site alone. Together, done with care, they give a new brand a natural spread of mentions while your best content earns the links that really count.

What Is Domain Authority (DA)?

Domain Authority, or DA, is a score from 1 to 100 that shows how strong a website is in search. A company called Moz made it. The higher the number, the better the site’s chances of ranking well in Google. We use it to group the sites in the list below.

Moz works it out mostly from links. It looks at how many other websites link to a site, and how strong those websites are. A site with links from thousands of trusted domains, like Reddit, scores in the 90s. A brand-new blog with no links starts near 1.

Why the Scale Is Tricky

The score does not climb in a straight line. Moving from DA 20 to DA 30 is fairly easy. Moving from DA 70 to DA 80 is very hard. So ten points near the top mean far more than ten points near the bottom.

Google Does Not Use DA

This one surprises people. DA is Moz’s own estimate, not a Google number. Google never sees it and does not rank pages by it. It is still handy, because it lets you compare sites quickly. Just treat it as a rough guide. Other tools have their own version: Ahrefs calls it Domain Rating (DR), and Semrush calls it Authority Score.

DA vs PA

DA scores a whole website. Page Authority, or PA, scores one single page on that site. A strong site can still have weak pages, so PA matters when you care about one URL.

How to Check DA

Any DA PA checker tool will do the job. The easiest is to type the site into Moz’s free Link Explorer, or install the free MozBar browser extension. Then look at the site’s traffic in Semrush or Ahrefs as well. As you will see below, a high DA with almost no visitors is a warning sign.

How We Built This List

Three sources fed this list of social bookmarking websites. The Wikipedia list of bookmarking websites gave us the long-running platforms. DSOM’s 1,000-site table gave us hundreds of smaller sites with DA, PA, and spam scores. W3era’s 2026 USA list added curation tools and US-focused communities.

Then came the cleanup, which took far longer than the copying. DSOM’s table lists some sites five or six times, often with a different DA each time. Hindibookmark alone shows up at 32, 57, 58, and 63. We merged every repeat, used the last DA figure each source gave, and where the two sources disagreed, we went with the lower number. A list that guesses high does you no favors.

We also cut three kinds of entries:

  • Sites we could confirm are dead or changed, like Pocket, Delicious, StumbleUpon and Folkd. More on those in a moment.
  • Sites that are not bookmarking at all. GitHub, LinkedIn, press release sites and business directories are useful, but they belong on other lists.
  • The weakest throwaway domains, mostly sites under DA 10 with names built from words like “seo,” “backlink,” and “dofollow.”

What’s left sits in bands by domain authority. We used bands instead of exact scores on purpose. Moz updates DA all the time, and our sources disagree by 20 points or more on the same site. A band is honest. A precise number would be make-believe.

One more note. Hatena, Plurk, We Heart It and Pinboard came from Wikipedia with no DA figure, so their bands are our own estimate. Check them yourself before you lean on them.

How We Labeled Link Type

Each site in the list carries one of five labels. Dofollow and Nofollow come from the platform’s known link policy or from W3era’s 2026 list. Dofollow* means the site itself says its links are dofollow, but we could not confirm it in the page code. Mixed means it depends, for example, on votes or on which field you fill in. Check means we could not confirm it either way, so test it yourself with the Inspect trick below before you count on it.

How to Judge a Bookmarking Site Before You Use It

A high DA is a fine place to start. It’s a bad place to stop. Here is what we look at, in this order.

Is Anyone Actually There?

Open the site’s newest posts. Are they from this week? Do they have votes or replies from real people? Or is it page after page of casino links and “best plumber in Ohio” posts with zero comments?

A site with DA 55 and no humans is worth less than a DA 30 site with a small, busy crowd.

Here is something most lists won’t tell you. A big cluster of sites near the top of the DSOM table shows DA in the mid-50s to mid-60s. We ran four of them through Semrush in October 2026. Three had no organic search data at all, and the fourth ranked for three keywords with zero estimated visits. Diigo, for comparison, pulls thousands of monthly visits from India alone. Authority and audience don’t always match, so treat a high DA on a site you’ve never heard of as a question, not an answer.

Check the Spam Score

Moz gives every domain a spam score from 1% to 100%. Under 5% is normal. Over 10% means the site shares traits with sites Google has penalized. A few entries on the source lists sit at 15% or higher. We kept most of them, since some still work, but look before you leap.

Is the Link Dofollow or Nofollow?

Don’t trust anyone’s table on this, ours included. Sites change their link settings quietly, and nobody sends a memo. Post one bookmark, right-click your link, choose Inspect, and look for rel=”nofollow” or rel=”ugc” in the code. If neither is there, the link is dofollow. Ten seconds, and you know.

Does It Fit Your Niche?

A coding tutorial on DZone or Hashnode will get read. The same post on a general site full of loan ads will just sit there. Relevance beats raw authority almost every time.

The 272 Social Bookmarking Sites List With High DA

Sites are numbered 1 to 272 and grouped by domain authority. Inside each band, they run from highest to lowest DA. We list names as plain text, not links. Type each address yourself, and save this social bookmark site list for later, because sites on it will keep changing.

DA 80 and Above: The Big Platforms

These are the names everyone knows. Most give nofollow links, but they carry real audiences, so this is where referral traffic and brand reach come from. Start here, and read each community’s rules before you post.

Newly Added Communities (DA Not in Source Data)

These link-sharing communities were missing from the big lists. We checked each one in October 2026. Their DA was not in our source data, so they sit in their own group.

Bookmarking Sites That Are Dead or Changed

Your old list probably still has a few of these. Here is what happened to them, so you can stop wasting sign-up forms.

Pocket. Mozilla shut it down on July 8, 2025, and deleted saved data that October. Any list that still tells you to save links to getpocket.com hasn’t been touched since.

Digg. This one is a story. Founder Kevin Rose bought Digg back in 2025 and relaunched it as a Reddit-style site in January 2026. It closed again two months later, on March 14. The reason? SEO spam bots flooded it to grab links from its old Google authority. In May 2026, it came back as an AI news aggregator that ranks stories from social media chatter. You can’t just drop your link there anymore.

Sit with that for a second. One of the most famous bookmarking brands ever was knocked over by the exact kind of link dumping that most bookmarking guides teach. That’s the clearest warning you’ll get about how not to use the sites in this list.

StumbleUpon. It closed on June 30, 2018 after 16 years, and accounts moved to Mix.

Delicious. Pinboard bought it in 2017, and it has been read-only since 2018, according to the Wikipedia list.

Folkd. Some tables still show it at DA 80. AlternativeTo now marks it as discontinued and says the site is no longer available.

The rest of the graveyard. Newsvine shut in 2017. Xmarks closed in 2018. Connotea ended in 2013, Faves went quiet around 2012, and Furl was folded into Diigo back in 2009. CiteULike is gone too. If you see any of these on a “2026” list, close the tab.

Notice the pattern? Services that let anyone drop links get buried in spam. Then the owners either lock things down or turn off the lights.

How to Submit a Bookmark the Right Way

Doing this well takes a few extra minutes per site. Those minutes are the whole difference between a bookmark that helps and one that just sits there.

  1. Pick your best pages, not every page. A deep guide, a free tool, or a post with your own data will earn clicks and votes. A thin product page won’t, anywhere.
  2. Build the profile first. Add a photo, a short bio, and your website link. Then save five or ten useful links from other people before you post your own. On Reddit, this matters even more, since many groups hide posts from brand-new accounts.
  3. Write a fresh title and description each time. Don’t paste your meta description onto 30 sites. Say in one or two plain sentences what the reader gets. Our free meta tag checker shows what your page already says, so you can write something new.
  4. Use three to five honest tags. Pick the category that actually fits, even if a busier one is tempting.
  5. Go slow. A handful of sites a day, spread over a few weeks, looks like a person. Fifty in an afternoon looks like a bot.
  6. Check the link. Open your bookmark, inspect the link, and make sure the page loads for logged-out visitors. Some sites hide new posts until a moderator approves them.
  7. Track what works. Watch referral visits in GA4 and new links in Google Search Console. After a month, keep the three or four sites that send real people and drop the rest.

Mistakes That Waste Your Time

Most bookmarking fails for boring reasons. Here are the ones we see over and over.

Blasting the Same Text Everywhere

Same title, same description, 100 sites, one day. It is easy, and it’s also the exact footprint spam filters hunt for. Write a new blurb for each site you care about.

Using Exact-Match Anchor Text

If every bookmark says “best cheap running shoes,” you are waving a flag at Google. Use your brand name, the page title, or the plain URL. Mix it up.

Bookmarking a Page That Has Problems

If the page is slow, broken on mobile, or still loading over HTTP, every visitor you send will bounce. Run a quick check with our HTTP to HTTPS checker, and get bigger issues sorted with proper technical SEO before you promote anything.

Buying Cheap “1,000 Bookmarks” Gigs

These packages usually fire your URL at the bottom half of lists like this one, often with bots. You get a big number on a report and very little else. Remember what happened to Digg.

Treating Bookmarks Like a Ranking Shortcut

Bookmarks help people find good pages. They can’t turn a weak page into a strong one. The page itself still has to deserve the click, which is where solid on-page SEO and real SEO content writing come in.

Where to Start, Based on What You Run

Even 272 sites is a lot. Here is a short starter kit for the most common kinds of websites. Pick the one that fits you, do it well, and come back to the full list later.

A New Blog

Start with Medium and Tumblr to share and republish, Flipboard to collect your posts into a magazine, and Pinterest if your topic is visual, like food, travel, home or fashion. Then add two or three free bookmarking sites from the DA 50 to 59 band. That’s enough to get new posts crawled and send your first real readers.

A Local Business

Bookmarking matters less for you than your Google Business Profile and local citations. Still, a short, helpful post in your city’s subreddit can bring in actual customers, as long as that group allows it. Pair it with the profile and directory lists linked earlier, and you have a solid base.

A SaaS Product

Go where builders hang out: Product Hunt, Hacker News, AlternativeTo, DEV and Hashnode. These crowds are picky. Share something useful, like an honest launch story, a free tool or real numbers, and then answer every comment. If you want help turning launch buzz into search traffic that lasts, our SaaS SEO team does exactly that.

An Online Store

Pinterest first, by a mile. Product pins with good photos and plain, honest titles can rank in Pinterest search for years. Fancy and We Heart It suit fashion, home, and gift products. Bookmarking single product pages on general link sites rarely does anything, so save your effort for the visual platforms.

A Tech or Developer Blog

DZone, DEV, Hashnode, Hacker News, Slashdot and HackerNoon. These readers go deep, and they link generously when a post earns it. One article that takes off on Hacker News can bring more natural links than months of routine bookmarking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are social bookmarking sites still good for SEO in 2026?

Yes, for smaller reasons than they used to be. They help new pages get found, they can send real visitors from active communities, and they add some variety to your link profile. What they won’t do is push a weak page onto page one by themselves.

What is the difference between dofollow and nofollow bookmarks?

A dofollow link can pass ranking value to your site. A nofollow link carries a small tag that tells Google not to count it as a vote. Most big platforms use nofollow. Many small ones use dofollow, but small sites often have little real traffic, so the link may not count for much either way.

How many bookmarking sites should I use?

Fewer than you think. Ten to twenty active, relevant sites beat 500 random ones every time. A good mix is the big platforms for traffic, plus a handful of active dofollow sites that fit your topic.

Are these free social bookmarking sites?

Almost all of them. You can join and post on nearly every site in this list without paying. Pinboard is the main exception, since it charges a fee, and tools like Instapaper and Raindrop.io sell paid upgrades on top of a free plan. Free bookmarking sites in the lower DA bands often approve posts instantly, so look for spam before you sign up.

Are instant approval bookmarking sites safe?

Instant approval just means nobody checks posts before they go live. That’s handy when you’re in a hurry. It also means spam piles up fast. Scroll through the newest posts first. If it’s all loan ads and pills, skip it.

Can bookmarking get my site penalized?

A few links from weak sites won’t hurt you. Google mostly ignores them. Trouble starts when you build hundreds of identical, keyword-stuffed links in a short burst, often through paid packages. That pattern looks like manipulation, because it is.

Is Reddit a social bookmarking site?

Sort of. It grew from the same idea, where people submit links and vote on them, and Wikipedia’s list still counts it. Today it’s more of a discussion site. The links are nofollow, but the traffic can be huge, and Reddit threads often show up in Google results and AI answers. Every subreddit has its own rules about self-promotion, so read them before you post anything of yours.

How do I check a site’s domain authority?

Moz’s free Link Explorer and the MozBar browser extension both show DA. Then compare it with traffic numbers from a tool like Semrush or Ahrefs. A high DA with almost no traffic is a red flag, not a green light.

Do bookmarks help with AI search tools like ChatGPT?

Indirectly, yes. AI tools learn about brands from places where people talk and share, and big communities like Reddit carry weight there. A helpful, honest post on the right platform can get your brand mentioned in answers. Tiny link-drop sites with no readers almost certainly don’t help with this at all.

Final Thoughts

Use this list as a map, not a to-do list. Start with the big platforms for traffic. Add a few active dofollow sites for variety. Skip anything that looks abandoned, and don’t touch the sites in the graveyard section.

Most of all, spend your energy on pages worth saving. A great page shared on five good sites will beat a thin page blasted across five hundred.

If you run a software brand, our list of SaaS directories is the next place worth your time. Got slide decks, ebooks or reports? Our document sharing and PDF submission sites list covers where those can earn links and reach. Need Help With Your SEO or Off-Page Campaign?

Social bookmarking is one small piece of off-page SEO. The bigger job is getting technical health, content, and authority to pull in the same direction, and that is what we do every day at SERP Maestro. We have grown an ecommerce brand to 88.4K organic clicks in six months, and we help SaaS and service brands show up in Google and AI answers alike.

If you want to hire us for your SEO strategy or for an off-page campaign, contact us at info@serpmaestro.com. You can also book a consultation, browse our SEO services, or talk to our AI SEO consultant about your brand’s visibility in answer engines.
